On March 9, our AWANA Club held their annual Grand Prix Car Races with about 50 cars entered by clubbers and staff. This year the AWANA program was under the leadership of Jason and Tifany Clark. The event was attended by 80 friends and family of clubbers.
On April 3, two teens — Nichole Morell and Alexis Burke — were baptized and received into membership. Eleven adults joined the church by testimony and transfer: Skeeter and Barbara Wass, Terri Rudy, Jered and Kim Schouten, Jack and Caroly Teeter, Steve Veldhuizen, Bryan and Laura Zollner and Terry Hee. That same day, Bruce Jost of Hillsboro, Kan., representing the Mennonite Brethren Foundation, gave a report on the services available to churches of the MB conference.
Youth pastor Keith Warkentin and his wife, Paige, accompanied five of our high school youth to the National Youth Conference in San Antonio, Texas, April 16-19. Youth
attending were Erica Eytzen, Cody Lind, Nichole Morell, Dustin Reimer and Mark Stevenson. The conference drew more than 900 youth.
Lead pastor Tim Thiessen was the speaker for the men’s retreat at Black Mountain Camp near Maple Falls April 15-16. Seventeen men attended and were challenged on the subject of “The Importance and Power of the Holy Spirit.”
Easter events April 24 included a sunrise service on the new property building site, then a breakfast served to more than 100 people prepared and served by the youth. Worship centered on a drama and choral rendition of “Jesus, No Other King.”
