Transformed and reconciled
Ten years ago, the word was transformation. Some liked it better than merger, because a union of the Mennonite Church and General Conference Mennonite Church was supposed to be more than a new structure. The future church could be better than those of the past, if members and leaders would let God mold and change them.

Seeking evidence
Berry Friesen’s letter, “9/11 Questions” (July 4), is very interesting. On what evidence are these statements made? Surely, if you find his contentions credible, you will soon carry elaborations and further sources. If not, let’s close the door by inviting him to “either put up or shut up.”

Media coverage of the Goshen (Ind.) College national anthem story revealed a startling lack of appreciation among Mennonites about our community’s practices and history regarding national symbols. It at least demonstrated an inability to speak clearly and correctly about them by those speaking on our behalf.
