Eight young adults enter missions
First Mennonite and Iglesia Menonita Casa Betania, a Spanishlanguage congregation FMC helps support, held a joint service March 27. Pastor Jaime Cazares of Casa Betania gave the sermon, and the IMCB worship band led the music.

Welcoming a new church
Our church participated in the Humanitarian Fair held at the elementary school March 22. Several area churches sponsored the fair, which involved quilting and sewing projects, donations of household goods, and food items for the local food bank. Most of the donated items went to the Blackfoot Crisis Center on behalf of victims of domestic and sexual abuse.

‘Experts’ deceive
In response to the May 2 editorial, “An Exploration of How Love Wins,” it behooves us to check Scripture rather than quote human “experts.” While the idea that eternal life starts now may be valid, most of the rest of the editorial is a direct contradiction to what Scripture teaches, especially the teachings of Jesus.

Parade for peace
I appreciated the mention of Elkhart, Ind., in the front-page caption under the picture of the Palm Sunday Peace Parade in Pasadena, Calif. (“Peace Doves and Palm Branches,” April 25). I would like to add that we represented five Mennonite and other churches and totaled 41 people at our first annual Palm Sunday Peace Parade. Pastor Charles Gieser of Hively Avenue Mennonite Church spoke as we gathered at Civic Plaza in downtown Elkhart.
