Recycling fabric for mission
Bethesda women’s ministries Bible lesson special feature by Faller Nursery, “Roots Grow Deep,” and becoming families of peace was the first event of the year. On our sewing and project days we recycled denim, tied comforters, quilted, embroidered tea towels and made quiet books for the MCC sale. Local sculptor Vern Friesen presented a lesson, “Created in God’s Image.”

The power of 100-word testimonies
The congregation held its annual “Covenant Renewal Sunday” Jan. 9. The entire worship service was devoted to people offering “100-word testimonies” prior to signing the register as members or associate members for another year.

Leading a peace parade
In January every year, we hold a Consecration Sunday worship service, during which members offer their Spirit-given gifts to the congregation to further our mission and life together. This year 187 gifts were offered to maintain and build our community of faith for the coming year. MCC a lifesaver
I agree with Robert Kreider’s troubled views about Mennonite Central Committee’s “divorce” of the U.S. and Canada (Viewpoint, March 7). Without the forerunner of the modern MCC, composed of a committee from both Canada and the United States, I might not be living today.

Abuse of rights
On behalf of all serious followers of Jesus Christ, I apologize to the family of Matthew Snyder and the rest of the community for the unbelievably harmful actions of the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kan.

Drinking raw milk
Regarding the popularity of raw milk (“Farmers Scrutinized, But Raw Milk Still Popular,” Feb. 28), few people will ever get sick drinking raw milk. Pasteurization is designed to make milk safe even in the unlikely event of a problem. This can happen on even the cleanest, well-managed dairy farms. I am a dairy farmer who drinks my milk raw, but I would never take the risk of selling milk to the public without taking every precaution available to ensure the milk is safe.
