Sin and Scripture
On the issue of church membership and homosexuality, we sometimes overlook the motivation of a “sinner’s” heart. While all have sinned, that does not excuse the continued practice of unchristian behavior.

Acceptance and inclusion
In accord with Kauffman, I too commend the pastors who penned the open letter on the exclusion of homosexuals. I have been closely associated with the Mennonite churches since 2001, and I have a great respect for their understanding of many aspects of Scripture. However, I draw the line at not accepting gays and lesbians. I would think that if anyone would appreciate acceptance and inclusion it would be Anabaptists, after their own history in Europe of being persecuted.

Better eating
The recent PBS documentary Poisoned Waters presented a strong case that the runoff from the waste generated by factory-oriented chicken farms around the Chesapeake Bay is leading to terrible pollution problems, ruining the bay for fish and plant life. Factory farming of other animals such as pigs and cattle is creating the same problems in many areas of our country.
