Sending mission workers
Hartville (Ohio) Mennonite Church
By Tessa HershbergerThe congregation was blessed to send out many of its members into local and overseas mission fields.
On July 12, the congregation commissioned Ashley Phipps and Michael Campanale for a missions trip with Crossover International to the Czech Republic and Romania July 25-Aug. 15. In both countries they had the opportunity to use basketball and building relationships to open doors for sharing the gospel with kids ages 12-18. Wendy Phillips was also commissioned July 12 for a trip to New Orleans with Habitat for Humanity.
July 21-28, a group of 24 people, including 17 from HMC, took a trip to Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The group painted the outside of a girls’ orphanage that will soon be opening, as well as spent time in fellowship at a boys’ orphanage and with locals. They also distributed several suitcases full of clothing to those in need. On Aug. 9, the team shared testimonies and pictures.
Aug. 23 was Back-to-School Sunday. Pastor Joe Troyer challenged the youth to be “marked by love” as Christians among both fellow believers and unbelievers. The service closed with a prayer of commissioning for all the students.
On Aug. 30 the congregation had a prayer of commissioning for Jared and Jalayne Coblentz, who are moving to Haiti for two years to launch the same girls’ orphanage that the group from HMC worked at during their July trip.
Weddings: Missy Sommers and Jeremy Briggs, Aug. 8; Sara Mattingly and Mike Brown, Aug. 14.
